Sho Sakurai stars in "The Quiz Show"

Arashi's Sho Sakurai has been chosen to star in the NTV drama series "The Quiz Show." The show is a prime time version of last summer's late night drama "The Quiz Show," which starred Jin Katagiri and Shigeyuki Totsugi.

In the new version, Sakurai plays the host of a live TV quiz program. On the show, contestants who achieve 7 correct answers win 10 million yen, and those who get 8 correct answers will have one of their wishes granted by the TV network. But while the questions start off innocently enough, as the game progresses, the questions gradually delve into the contestants' past crimes or indiscretions, presenting them with the dilemma of having to confess their guilt in order to win.

Sakurai's character also has a mysterious past. Before becoming the show's host, an accident had left him in a vegetative state for six years, which also resulted in him losing most of his memories.

The supporting cast includes Kanjani8's Yu Yokoyama as the show's director, Aya Matsuura as a rookie assistant director, and Miki Maya as the producer. Broadcast begins on April 18 in NTV's Saturday 9pm time slot.

A.
Aiba: It says "It seems like you'd even reply to the sounds in your bathroom"...
Matsumoto: We're talking about when I'm alone in my room, right? But is that talking to myself? And this person has never seen me in my room to begin with, right? And yet...
Aiba: We understand! Sorry!
Ninomiya: We are very very sorry!
Sakurai: We'll reflect upon ourselves (laugh)

Aiba: It's a timely topic though.
Matsumoto: Among the messages that I get on my radio show, there was a person with the pen name "Leader is too tanned" (laugh)
Ninomiya: Even the fans are saying this, Ohno-san.

A.
Everyone: Ahahaha (laugh)
Sakurai: Have you ever been to my house before!? Say that after you've come! That's what I want to say first.
Aiba: If she really does go, what would you do?
Sakurai: Don't come, okay? ♥
Matsumoto: So why is it dirty anyway?
Sakurai: It's because I don't tidy up. But, I don't think it's dirty. Because having things around you so you can reach for them within the shortest possible distance is convenient.

Q. Why do you like curry so much? (Rika-san, 21)
A.
Ninomiya: And here I thought we'd get a question like "Why are you so stupid?"
Aiba: No no no (laugh)
Sakurai: All five of us in Arashi love curry, but Aiba-kun particularly loves it. Even before concerts, he'd eat a big serving of it.
Aiba: That's because I like it!
Ninomiya: Even though you're the son of a Chinese restaurant.
Aiba: But I grew up on family-styled curry. Curry calms me down.

(Vermont Curry! I'm so glad I got to eat it~ :D I shall hunt for the medium hot flavour next time! Aiba's favourite Vermont curry flavour and the one I wanted to get but couldn't~ T^T)

Q. Why do you cry so often? (Nana-san, 22)
A.
Ninomiya: Just as expected, it might be a strong image from 24Jikan Terebi (when Arashi took on the role of main personalities in 2004, Aiba wrote a letter for the other members and cried while reading it).
Ohno: That's definitely it.
Aiba: Um~ it might be like that during concerts too, but I unconsciously get emotional. I can't predict when myself either.


Asking Ninomiya Kazunari WHY?

Q. Why are you so verbally abusive to Aiba-chan? (You-san, 14)
A.
Ninomiya: Because I hate him.
Everyone: (explodes in laughter)
Aiba: No no, what are you going to do if she believes that? You like me in reality.
Ninomiya: It's true that she might say something like "Nino, you're mean~!". Well, doesn't all kinds of things happen when you have a number of people joining a group?
Aiba: Don't make it sound so realistic (laugh). I'll ask you one more time though, you like me in actuality, right?
Ninomiya: I hate you! Well, that's the kind of closeness we have (laugh).

Matsumoto: Just as expected, there's a sense of needing to give a clear-cut reason behind it.
Ninomiya: Why is that, Leader?
